Job Duties

• Prepare drawings through gathering information from plans and specifications without assistance and accurately input data equipment, and fire alarm/sprinkler devices/equipment without supervision
• Create a fire alarm system/fire sprinkler layout and able to determine power supply, loading requirements, and hydro calcs for fire alarm/fire sprinkler systems.
• Accurately be able to survey and identify existing conditions to verify that they support the requirements of the fire alarm system/fire sprinkler design and layout
• Coordinate and communicate with other disciplines and trades
• Complete code review and investigations
• Produce code summary sheets and provide interpretation for junior staff and identify/document design standards, codes, and local amendments
• Document correspondences with AHJs and project team
• Ensure that all internal and external customers and co-workers receive outstanding service by providing a friendly environment
• Stay current with technical aspects of job by reading technical manuals, bulletins, product brochures, etc.
• Maintain a safe and secure work environment by following OSHA and company safety programs
• Adhere to company policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations and laws
• Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance
• Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation
• Respectfully takes direction from manager
• Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
• High School diploma or equivalent
• 3-5 years’ experience as a Fire Alarm or Fire Sprinkler Designer preferred

Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations
• NICET III
• Valid state issued driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Computer Skills
• Knowledge and ability to understand and operate basic computer functions, operating systems, and software applications such as Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Apple IOS, and Android. Must 
be proficient in/have advanced skills in Word and Excel such as importing data and working with pivot tables. In addition, required to learn and use industry specific devices and software such as AutoCAD or Revit- Bluebeam. 

Other Skills
• Access to a plotter and drawing table is needed

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear. May need to use stairways to climb to multiple floors within office building. The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to type or dial, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally 
lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This position requires frequent computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. 

Physical and Mental Demands
• Able to constantly lift and carry up to 25 pounds unassisted materials such as files, books, office equipment, etc.
• Ability to constantly push or pull up to 25 pounds
• Able to constantly bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist, and stretch

Eligible for Remote Work
• This position is eligible for remote work. Manager must approve remote work. To qualify for remote work status employee must have an adequate, quiet, and safe home office setup including a comfortable desk and 
chair, high-speed internet access, ability to safeguard and protect sensitive data. 
• To maintain remote work status, employee must maintain the above conditions as well as be in good standing (strong attendance, no performance improvement plans).

Shift
• Monday through Friday 7am – 5pm

Travel
• This position requires minimal travel less than 5% of the time.
Overnight/ ER Work / On Call Work
• This position does not require overnight / ER work / On call work

Driving
• This position requires occasional travel from one worksite to another. Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
