Seeking a Fire Alarm Technician for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Rockville, MD.

Pay: $30 - $50 per hour (based on experience)
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, inspect, test, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems in accordance with job specifications, NFPA 72, the NEC, and all applicable state and local codes.
- Stay current with the latest editions of NFPA 72 and the NEC as they apply to fire alarm systems; apply updates to field work as required.
- Program, enable, and disable fire alarm systems as required during installation, commissioning, testing, and service calls.
- Respond to fire alarm system failures, inadvertent alarms, and emergency service calls; diagnose and resolve issues on-site in a timely and code-compliant manner.
- Read and interpret fire alarm blueprints, drawings, and project specifications to guide installation and troubleshooting activities.
- Supervise and participate in AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) inspections; address all noted deficiencies promptly and completely.
- Order materials as needed and manage on-site inventory throughout the duration of each project.
- Operate a company vehicle safely and in accordance with all applicable traffic laws and company vehicle policies.
- Review project plans and fire alarm drawings; assign duties to apprentices and helpers to execute work efficiently and on schedule.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations — who also serves as Project Manager and oversees the commercial division — to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to established quality standards.
- Coordinate fire alarm work with other subcontractors and trades to ensure efficient use of time and materials and avoid scheduling conflicts.
- Complete and document service tickets accurately and promptly for all work performed outside of project scope or on individual service calls.
- Maintain high-quality standards and detailed documentation throughout all phases of each project.
- Foster and maintain strong working relationships with clients, vendors, general contractors, and AHJ representatives to support project outcomes.
- Represent the Company professionally and with integrity on every job site and client interaction.
- Train, mentor, and provide hands-on guidance to assigned apprentices and helpers in fire alarm systems, applicable codes, and safe work practices.
- Maintain consistent communication with the Director of Operations and office staff throughout each project.
- Adhere to all company policies, OSHA standards, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures at all times.
- Contribute to a positive, safety-focused, and collaborative team culture.
Qualifications:
- Valid Maryland State Journeyperson Electrician License, or a valid license from a state with Maryland reciprocity.
- NICET Level III Certification in Fire Alarm Systems, OR a minimum of three (3) years of hands-on fire alarm installation and service experience with a demonstrated commitment to obtaining NICET Level III certification upon hire.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code), the NEC, and applicable local fire alarm codes.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret fire alarm blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
- Experience with programming, enabling, and disabling fire alarm systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills specific to fire alarm systems.
- Strong team leadership skills, including task delegation, communication, and mentoring of apprentices and helpers.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong proficiency in English — both written and verbal — to ensure effective communication with customers, team members, and the office.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds, squat, bend, and climb ladders as required by the job.
Preferred
- NICET Level III or higher (if not already held, certification must be actively pursued upon hire).
- Experience with Fire-Lite and/or Silent Knight fire alarm systems.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- CPR / First Aid certification.
- Prior experience coordinating with AHJs, general contractors, and subcontractors on commercial projects.
