Position Summary

The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for programming, commissioning, servicing, and inspecting fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA standards and manufacturer specifications. This position plays a critical role in ensuring system reliability, life safety compliance, and customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Program and commission newly installed fire alarm systems
  • Install and terminate low-voltage fire alarm equipment in compliance with NFPA and local codes
  • Conduct functional testing and system verification
  • Perform inspections, troubleshoot deficiencies, and diagnose system issues
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and product manuals
  • Educate customers on system operation and preventative maintenance
  • Complete detailed inspection and service reports accurately and on time
  • Provide oversight and direction to helpers and junior installers
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional jobsite


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2 years of fire alarm service and inspection experience
  • Working knowledge of NFPA standards and fire alarm panel systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, climbing, and working outdoors


Preferred Certifications:

  • NICET (Fire Alarm Systems)
  • FASA / BASA Certification
