 Job Description:

Summary:
Our client is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer to join their team! This role is responsible for designing accurate and detailed fire protection sprinkler systems to support efficient field installation and maintenance. The designer will prepare drawings, calculations, and revisions while collaborating with engineering and design staff to ensure compliance with NFPA standards and project requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed design plans for fire protection sprinkler systems with a focus on minimizing installation errors
  • Prepare final sketches and review dimensions, material usage, and relationships between system components
  • Submit design drawings for approval, secure necessary permits, and coordinate with engineering staff for modifications
  • Generate technical drawings and layouts using CAD design software for internal and client review
  • Revise system designs by adjusting sizes, shapes, and arrangements of components to meet project needs
  • Review project work orders and procedural manuals to define design parameters within allocated job hours
  • Develop graphic representations of system designs for approval by design and engineering teams
  • Perform calculations to convert design dimensions for resizing and production requirements
  • Compute surface areas, angles, tolerances, and clearances for accurate system layout
  • Draft multi-view drawings and system details for project execution
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure designs meet construction coordination standards
  • Provide technical presentations to both internal staff and customers as needed

Qualifications:

  • 5 to 15 years of experience in designing fire sprinkler systems or related systems such as fire alarm, water, foam, or gas delivery
  • Alternatively, a one-year certificate from a college or technical school with related design training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to interpret and create fire sprinkler blueprints
  • Proficiency with CAD design software and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 13 and applicable fire protection codes
  • Capability to perform algebraic and geometric calculations related to design layouts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with customers and internal staff
  • Practical problem-solving ability to address technical challenges during the design process

Education/Certification Qualifications:

  • One-year technical certificate or equivalent education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NICET Level I Certification
  • Surveying skills and knowledge of construction coordination processes
