We are seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to join our team supporting Fluor on their Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) project! This position is full-time and will be based out of Aiken, SC.
Responsibilities
Provide technical direction to other engineers.
Conduct construction document reviews related to Fire Protection (FP) as required.
Generate Fire Hazard Analysis (FHA) documents.
Develop modifications to existing FHA documents, facility FP assessments, exemption and equivalency requests.
Create and revise detailed FP designs.
Calculate various FP systems including pre-action, wet pipe and dry pipe systems.
Review of FP packages and contractor submittals
Familiarity with computer aided drafting applications is required
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or similar accredited engineering B.S., minimum 15 years of practical related engineering practice (nuclear preferred), 8 years of which will have been in charge of diverse fire protection engineering design/construction work. National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III (Water Based Layout) Certification acceptable in lieu of B.S. in Engineering
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed
Must have a working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to fire protection design
Must have prior experience generating:
Fire Hazard Analysis (FHA) documents,
modifications to existing FHA documents,
facility FP assessments,
exemption and equivalency requests, and
detailed FP designs, and calculation of various FP systems.
