Position Description:
R+L Carriers has an immediate opening for a Security & Fire Alarm Technician. This individual will be responsible for performing skilled technical work in the installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and testing of Security and Fire Alarm Systems at multiple locations. Travel is Required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Installation, Troubleshooting, and Repair of Security and Fire alarm systems including IP Camera/CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Alarms, Fire Alarms, Intercoms, etc.
- Pull, route, install and terminate structured cabling infrastructure in a commercial environment.
- Learn and apply technical skills such as system configuration, wiring, programming, and testing of alarms and security systems.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting techniques, and escalate when appropriate for resolution.
- Follow industry standards and safety protocols and at all times.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance on existing equipment and devices.
- Teach and train end users and apprentices when needed.
- Prepare documentation in a variety of written and electronic formats (e.g. daily work reports/log, As-Builts, Drawings, Time and Materials, Inventory, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying project information.
- Assist with equipment staging and project inventory documentation.
Requirements:
- 2-5 years’ experience in security/low-voltage/network cabling and infrastructure.
- The ability to travel extensively.
- Positive attitude.
- Strong computer skills.
- Basic knowledge of IP network technologies.
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade.
- Be willing to utilize aerial lifts for service and installation.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Must be self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to work both individually and in a team environment.
- Constant Professional.
Preferred:
- Proficient knowledge installing, programming, and testing different types of Security Systems.
- Experience cutting/installing Electric Strikes and other electrified locking hardware.
- Manufacturer Certifications, NICET and/or State Fire Alarm Certifications.
