Essential Duties:
- Knowledge of NFPA Standards
- Ability to interpret blueprints and architectural drawings
- Organized self-starter with excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated "team player" with a "can do" attitude and be willing to travel to local job site locations
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine layout requirements.
- Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping system and sprinkler and fire protection equipment, using hand and power tools
- Connect piping system to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
- Test system for leaks using air or liquid pressure equipment
- Ability to train and direct the day to day work of a Helper
- Ability to climb ladders, operate high lift equipment, and carry and move material
- Maintain appropriate documentation for the work performed
- Ability to consistently work from heights
- Installs or repairs fire & life safety or other types of piping and systems.
- Work involves most of the following:
- Laying out work
- Measuring to locate position of pipe from drawings or other written specifications
- Cutting various sizes of pipe to correct lengths
- Pipe-cutting tools and machines
- Threading and grooving of pipe
- Bending pipe by hand-driven or power-driven machines
- Assembling pipe with couplings and fastening pipe to hangers
- Making standard shop computations relating to pressures, flow and size of pipe required
- Performing standard tests to determine whether finished pipes meet specifications
- Responsible to work safely and wear personal protective equipment and special equipment to protect themselves and others from injury.
- Ability to interact and communicate in a professional and positive manner with others
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
