Procon now seeks a Licensed Fire Protection Engineer. This is a long term role on federal projects. The ideal candidate would be able to obtain a federal clearance (HSPD-12 minimum) and at least 5+ years of experience in a Fire Protection Engineering role or similar position. This role requires various skills and experience as listed below.



Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in fire protection and life safety systems is required. 

  • NICET or NFPA certifications required. 

  • Engineering degree required.

  • Applicants must have the desire and ability to learn about life safety and fire protection systems, maximizing performance, and must be up to the challenge of leading a team of owners, designers, and contractors to find and fix issues from the beginning of design through construction.

  • Applicants must have the desire to lead, teach and help grow the fire protection team. 

  • Demonstrated field experience in fire and life safety systems, including hands-on testing of fire alarm systems, performing construction-related and technical inspections, and conducting comprehensive assessments in fire protection, safety, health, and risk mitigation.

  • Fire Protection PE License is required (any of the 50 states).

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform technical reviews of building and development plans and specifications for compliance with Life Safety Code and adopted National Fire Protection Association systems/standards.

  • Check sprinkler plans and hydraulic calculations.

  • Ensure compliance with gaseous fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, smoke control and related requirements.

  • Conduct construction and highly technical fire and life safety-related field inspections.

  • Maintain records and files; prepare reports.

  • Respond to inquiries from the public regarding fire prevention practices.

  • Oversee/lead the work of other fire protection staff in the absence of the Fire Marshall.

  • Lead programs centered around fire protection and life safety systems.
